2004 Events

Jeepers Creepers, Paul Finally Got a Jeep!!!

When Todd’s 1989 YJ with 5.5” Alcan Springs Lift, 1” Body Lift, Front and Rear ARB Lockers, Ruggedized Roll Cage, 5.13 Gears, and new Chevy 350 V8 Crate Motor was up for sale, how could I resist buying it???  Dad stripped the Jeep and prepped it for painting it Mariner Blue Metallic.  And, Dad and I put it all together again and tinkered on several projects.  Jason, Lee and I did some scouting day trips for our OR2004 event and we were quite impressed with the way the Jeep moves.

OR2004 was held in the Tahoe and Plumas National Forests.  J-Man, Big-Mac, Uncle Pyro and Squirrel were joined by newcomers The Professor, Tippie and Squeeze. Big Mac’s Bronco and my Jeep (named Koko Head) tore up the challenges Snake Lake threw at us. Tippie amazed us all with his Hummer’s ability to climb anything and everything. We ate and drank incredibly well and had an awesome campsite at Goose Lake.

Shortly after OR2004, Dicky Boy P, Pud and I met up with Short-cut for an outrageous off-road trip in the San Juan Mountains. I had forgotten just how scary it is to cross the tiny shelf roads of Imogene Pass and lower Poughkeepsie Gulch. I won’t talk about how terrifying decending Black Bear Pass is - from the off-camber, sharp descent past the summit to the hairpin turns on loose dirt. But, we had so much fun and ate and drank sooooo well.  Thanks everyone for making these trips so memorable.

Paul and Dianna are grateful to be able to spend a lot of time with family in California.  Jordan comes to visit often and we have so much fun with him.
