After buying the stock 1985 Bronco II in 1990, Dianna and I went off-road in Pismo Beach and in the Los Padres National Forest. Both were adventures that sent me into a journey of testing the limits of vehicles to climb rocks, ruts and obstacles called 4-Wheeling. I’ll always love Little Buck (formerly 8-Ball) as my first off-road vehicle and a vehicle that has taught me much about suspensions, engine rebuilding, body work and gears. Little Buck has 4.56 gears, a 4” Trailmaster suspension, front lockers, 15x10 rims with 33x12.5 tires and a full cabin rollcage. We’ve pushed Little Buck on Big Mother Hill, the Chutes, Poughkeepsie Gulch and my favorite local spots Moody Hill and the Rock Garden at Crystal Mountain. We’ve needed bigger trucks to rescue Little Buck on occasion, but only when we knew we were going way beyond reason. |

Big Mac agreed to sell me Raspy Dodge, his 2000 Ram 1500 with 4.56 gears, Dana 60’s in the back and Dana 44’s up front, ARB lockers, 6” Fabtech suspension and 35” tires on 17” rims. Many people have been shocked at the way Raspy’s long wheelbase enables it to climb what turns back most every other vehicle. |
